Blue Bengal Cats
Updated on 1-30-2010
Sometimes, a kitten is born in a litter, that is different from the accepted breed standard.
These kittens are not eligible for competition in shows, and are usually not used in
breeding.  Blue is actually a gray color, resulting from the dilution of the gene that
produces the color black.  It is a recessive gene, meaning that both parents have to carry
the gene and give it to their kitten for the kitten to be a Blue.  A Blue kitten can be born
into a litter of kittens that are not blue, and to parents who are not blue in color.  They
can be spotted or marbled, and can also be glittered.  Although not an accepted color for
competition, at this time, Blue Bengals can be very beautiful.

Here is Magic Spot, she is a Blue Lynxpoint Spotted Bengal.  She has very light grey
spotting, darker grey markings on her tail and face, and blue eyes. Read the story of
how she became known as a "Magic Blue" on her website.
This is a kitten we named "Teddy Bear."  She later was renamed "Bandit" by our
granddaughter. You can read her story on her webpage, and see how she grew into a
beautiful Blue Marble Bengal.
